About Gabriel

For over two years, Gabriel Rotimi has lived in an uncompleted building—no roof to keep out the rain, no food to sustain him, and no family to turn to. But through it all, he has held onto hope.

Gabriel’s story is not just one of struggle but of resilience. Despite the odds, he refuses to give up. Now, we have a chance to change his life.

Name: Gabriel Rotimi Abiodun
Location: Abaranje Road, Ikotun, Lagos, Nigeria
Age: 25
Years in Hardship: Over 4 years
Current Situation: Homeless, living in an uncompleted building
Hope & Resilience: Despite his struggles, he remains calm, gentle, and hopeful for a better future

Gabriel Rotimi was once part of a family that lived around Abaranje Road, Ikotun, Lagos. However, everything changed when they were served a quit notice, forcing them to leave their home. His parents moved back to the village, and Gabriel was left behind, struggling to survive.

For the past two years, Gabriel has been living in an uncompleted building, exposed to the elements. He has no roof over his head, no bed, no protection from mosquitoes, and no steady source of food.

His days are spent looking for ways to survive. At times, he pushes barrows at Ikotun Market to earn a little money, but his health has deteriorated, making it difficult to continue.

He is not involved in any bad activities—no drinking, no smoking, no stealing, no fighting. Instead, he is a quiet, respectful, and gentle person, always trying to remain hopeful despite his circumstances.

How We Met Gabriel

Joshua Omotayo, the founder of GoodDeeds Network, met Gabriel on the streets of Abaranje Road, Ikotun, close to where he grew up. He had seen Gabriel before but barely recognized him due to how much he had changed.

Wanting to understand his situation, Joshua visited Gabriel’s sleeping area—an uncompleted building with no roof, no windows, no door—just open space. Gabriel sleeps on a piece of carton with a small foam. At night, when it rains, he moves to a corridor of a neighbor’s house, though he is not allowed inside.

That night, Joshua took Gabriel home, gave him food, some of his own clothes, and took him for a haircut. Gabriel’s excitement was clear—he hadn’t had new clothes in a long time, and this simple act of kindness meant everything to him.

The next morning, Gabriel was already out looking for food. A neighbor who knows him well confirmed that his food had been stolen by other homeless people in the area. She also shared that his parents are no longer reachable and that no relatives have supported him for a long time.

Gabriel’s Needs and His Hope for the Future

Gabriel is willing to work and wants to rebuild his life. He says he can work as a housekeeper, house help, or errand boy, showing that he has lost hope in achieving anything bigger.

However, he is not beyond saving. He has been attending church regularly, trying to stay positive, and is open to help.

Right now, he needs:
✅ A Safe and Secure Place to Live
✅ Nutritious Meals and Basic Needs
✅ Clothes and Hygiene Essentials
✅ Job Opportunities or Skills Training

Gabriel’s story is a reminder that kindness can change lives. We may be strangers, but we can be his family. We may be distant, but we can bring hope closer to him.

Let’s stand together and help Gabriel get back on his feet.
